NB Esteem's core lawyers practise at two Chinese law firms: Beijing Jingsh Law Firm Ningbo Office and Grandall Law Firm Ningbo Office. NB Esteem handles marketing and business development, which Chinese rules do not allow law firms to do directly; the debt collection work itself is done by the lawyer team, and every lawyer on the team holds a PRC lawyer's licence. NB Esteem is not itself a licensed firm: in mainland China, third-party debt collection is reserved for licensed lawyers.

Process
To submit a debt-recovery claim to NB Esteem, please first create a free profile on Debitura. Once registered, upload your claim through the Debitura portal. During this process, you will digitally execute a Power of Attorney (PoA) via the Debitura platform, authorising NB Esteem to carry out pre-legal debt collection activities on your behalf.
Debitura's Standard Debt Collection Agreement
As a Debitura partner, NB Esteem operates under Debitura's Standard Debt Collection Agreement. The Agreement defines the Minimum Service-Level Requirements that must be met throughout the pre-legal stage.
Pre-Legal Debt-Collection Workflow
The exact collection strategy is tailored to each case, yet it generally follows these steps:
- Step 1, Debtor check: the lawyer team checks a company debtor in the public company register (usually about half an hour) or traces an individual through the address registered to the citizen ID (half a day to a day). Cases that cannot be worked, such as an offshore company with a Chinese-sounding name or an individual without an ID or passport number and Chinese name, are declined.
- Step 2, Written demand: under Chinese lawyers' practice rules the first official step is a detailed demand letter on law-firm letterhead, in Chinese.
- Step 3, Follow-up: over the next two to three weeks, emails, SMS or further letters, each a little firmer, ending with a final warning before legal action is recommended.
- Step 4, Negotiation: if the debtor engages, negotiation moves to WeChat so everything is on record, and calls happen only with the debtor's consent. You approve every settlement; settlement agreements usually include a CIETAC arbitration clause, so a debtor who breaches one also owes your legal fees.
- Step 5, Legal escalation (optional): arbitration where the contract has a clause, otherwise court, always on a quote you approve.
Claims below USD 5,000 get the basic steps only: a demand letter and one follow-up call. Amicable collection usually takes one to four months, often one to two.
