How debt collection works with Debitura
Five steps from overdue invoice to money in your account. A vetted local partner, matched to your case, does the work. You only pay when money is recovered. Works for one invoice or a hundred.
What happens to your claim
Who does the work, and what you decide along the way. One example claim runs through every step: Müller GmbH in Germany, €12,480, four months overdue.

For consumer debtors, add both at any amount.
- What qualifiesUnpaid invoices and loans that are not disputed, not placed with another agency and not in court. Most other claims get a custom quote first.

We match your case to the right local partner
We choose a licensed collection agency or law firm in your debtor's country, based on the type of debtor, the claim and how partners perform on our platform. You see who it is before you confirm, and sign a short power of attorney the first time you work with them.
In a few countries, local partners send you quotes and you choose.
How we match and monitor partners
We follow how much they collect, how fast they respond and how clients rate them. In key markets we test new partners against existing ones.
A message in the case chat creates an open task. Partners must resolve open tasks within 48 business hours.
Report it on the platform. We review it, and if a serious complaint is upheld, you can close the case at no cost, or we can move it to another partner.
“We pick the partner, and we stay on your side until the case is closed.”
Your partner collects locally, under local law
Most cases are settled before court, in the amicable phase. Your partner verifies the debtor, sends a formal demand and follows up by letter, email, SMS and phone. If the debtor engages, they negotiate payment. You follow it all on the case timeline and talk to your partner directly in the case chat.
For European cases, the median time to first payment is 33 days.
Six months is what you commit to. Once your partner has the case, they have six months to work it, and they handle all contact with the debtor.
- Your partner can agree payment plans of up to 12 months.
- Longer plans and discounts need your approval on the platform. If you don't reply within 10 business days, a discount of up to 20% counts as approved.
- You decide whether the case ever goes to court.
Minimum work on every case, in writing. The agreement sets the letters, emails and calls your partner must send, by claim size. See what the agreement requires · Follow an example case
You get paid, minus the partner's share
The debtor pays your partner, usually into a client account. Your partner keeps their share and pays you the rest within 30 business days, with a statement that shows every amount. If nothing is recovered, you pay nothing.
If the debtor pays you directly, tell your partner in the case chat within three business days. The success fee still applies.
Legal action, only if you say yes
When the amicable phase is exhausted, your partner can recommend legal action and send you a quote on the platform: the fee model, the estimate and the court costs. Reviewing it is free.
Legal action is outside No Cure, No Pay and never starts without your written approval on the platform.
A platform for debt collection, not a collection agency
We don't contact your debtor and we never hold your money. Licensed local partners do the collection. We match them to your case, set the terms, check the work and give you one place to follow it.
- Find and vet an agency in every country
- A new contract and fee in every language
- Your case passed on through a network, out of sight
- Status reports in spreadsheets and email threads
- A vetted local partner, matched to your case
- One agreement, the same terms everywhere
- You talk directly to the collector working your case
- Every case, message and payment on one platform
…one contract and one dashboard. Local experts handle each market and we only pay when they actually collect…
One invoice, from upload to payout
The same claim, three ways it can go. Pick what the debtor does.

How debt collection works, start to finishVideo · 13:49Read the guideWhat does it cost if nothing is recovered?
Nothing for the amicable phase. You see the success fee before you submit, and anything beyond it, like legal action, only starts if you accept a quote.
Do I choose the collection agency myself?
No. We match your case to a vetted local partner, and you see who it is before you confirm. In a few countries, local partners send you quotes and you choose.
Can I stop a case?
Yes, but read this first. When your partner accepts the case, a six-month collection period starts, and it extends whenever the debtor promises to pay, agrees a plan or makes a payment. During the period, your partner has the exclusive right to work the case: you don't contact the debtor about the claim or hand it to another agency. If you withdraw the case during the period, the full success fee is due, as if the claim had been paid. After the period ends, you can close it at no cost. The exception: if you report a serious problem and the complaint is upheld, you can close the case at no cost, or we can move it to another partner. Costs you already approved in writing, such as a legal quote, still apply.
Will I lose control of my customer relationship?
No. Payment plans over 12 months and discounts come to you for approval, you decide on legal action, and you see every step your partner logs. If you don't reply to a request within 10 business days, a discount of up to 20% or a plan of up to 24 months counts as approved.
What if the debtor disputes the claim?
Tell your partner in the case chat. Disputed claims are outside the standard terms, so your partner may offer a custom quote, and work only continues if you accept it.
What is your success rate?
It depends on the country, the age of the claim, whether it is disputed and the documents, so one number would mislead you. For European cases, the median time to first payment is 33 days and the median time to close a case is 44 days.
What if the debtor pays me directly?
Tell your partner in the case chat within three business days. The success fee still applies.
Is our data safe?
Debitura is your data processor and each partner is an independent processor. You can sign a Data Processing Agreement yourself in the platform.
I only have a few cases in my own country. Is this for me?
Yes. You still get a vetted partner, the standard terms and the platform.
